All incoming mail
that is addressed to the Department of Administration or an agency
at One Capitol Hill is delivered daily to the mailroom by the United
States Post Office. The mail is delivered to the intended agencies
after it is sorted by Central Mail Facilities personnel.
Because the volume of mail that is received changes
daily, and takes varying amounts of time to be sorted, there is
no set time that the incoming mail is delivered. Agencies can typically
expect to have the mail delivered with interdepartmental mail during
the mid-morning route.
Mondays and any day following a holiday, especially
when there is a long weekend, the incoming mail volume is always
larger than normal, takes longer to sort, and may not be delivered
until early afternoon. Shown here are
the delivery times for One Capitol Hill route.
Agencies that do not want to wait for all of the mail
to be sorted and delivered, routinely visit the mailroom and retrieve
a portion of their agencies mail. Feel free to take this course
of action if you need to get started on your incoming US Mail, or
if you are expecting something important from the US Postal Service.
