The Central Mail
Facility utilizes 6 high-speed automated postage meters with
a processing capacity of (up to) 10,000 pieces per hour. After
inserting the contents into the envelopes, the mailer must ensure
that all envelope flaps within a bundle are all up. An hourly
rate will be charged if CMF personnel have to reorient or reorganize
the mail so that it can be processed on our metering/sealing
equipment. Also, if we have to seal envelopes by hand, an hourly
fee will be charged.
All postage to be metered is charged to the initiating
department through their account identifier number. This identifier
number is on all of the processing cards, and should accompany
all of your outgoing mail.
Envelope Sealing
The mailing machines used by the Central Mail Facilities
have the capability of sealing envelopes of various sizes. However,
the envelopes should not be over-stuffed and should not have
anything sticking out of them. Flats can only be sealed when
the opening is on a long side of the envelope, and not on one
of the short sides. Customers should hand-seal all other mail
to ensure the contents remains intact.
